Day 1: Chamonix – Col de la Glière – Lac Blanc
| Distance | Up | Down | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8km | +800m | -450m | 5.5h |
After riding by car with my trekking buddy Christoph (we’ve been to places like Iceland, Patagonia and Greenland) to France and going up by cablecar to Planpraz we walked longer and with a lot more snow than expected along the Balcon Sud towards Lac Blanc. The next morning we woke up with a cloudless sky and the full panorama of Les Drus, Grandes Jorasses and Mont Blanc:

What an opener!
Day 2: Lac Blanc – Col des Montets – Col de Balme
| Distance | Up | Down | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12km | +800m | -1000m | 5h |
Today I went all the way down the valley to Col des Montets and from there walking up again to Col de Balme on the French-Swiss Border where I spent the night. In the morning again I was welcomed by Aiguilles de Chamonix and the Mont Blanc massive once again (this time from a different angle).

Day 3: Col de Balme – Fenêtre d’Arpette – Arpette
| Distance | Up | Down | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 16km | +1200m | -1800m | 8h |
Today a hard one expected me. Already on the first part I had to pass through a lot of snowfields which cost me a lot of energy and ended with the first little accident. Later on I hiked up a long the impressive Trient Glacier to the Fenêtre d’Arpette which was challenging me seriously and after a long descent I finally arrived to the Arpette valley.
